Walking on the Sun, Part 2

Triptych

(I'd prefer to sell these all together so they are one cohesive piece)

Acrylic on Canvas, 3 18"x24" canvases (54"x24")

---------------------------------------------------------------------

About a year ago, I made a Painting, Walking on the Sun. I think about the song, Walking on the Sun by Smashmouth, a hit when I was a kid. Around the same time when I made the first version, the singer of the band passed away, after a tough battle with alcholism. He was even kicked out of the band prior to his passing, they had a falling out, look up the video on youtube, tragic sad stuff... BUT the song is a bop, the riff reminds me of a Ray Manzarek riff from a song by The Doors. These are 3 united canvases that move and groove along with the tune quite nicely.

Although the song sounds upitiy, it was inspired by the tragic Rodney King and La riots and Racial tension in the area. It was time for protest, no doubt. I guess the story goes that the lead guitatrist wrote this as a 90s let all get along song. Now, I do not know the guitarist or his positcal views, but racial, social and gender equality issues are still causing a lot of the pain in the country today. I am an ally and supporter of racial, social and gender equality. We can all get along, I hope.
